N.Korean Cheerleaders Have Sightseeing in Gangneung
After a long day of supporting athletes participating in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on Monday, some 229 North Korean cheerleaders had their first day off on Tuesday.
They spent the day having a tour around Gangneung, Gangwon Province. The first destination was Gyeongpo Beach. Reporters shouted questions to them, but they were careful in their responses. But some shared their hopes for reunification between the two Koreas.
Without breaking formation, the North Koreans enjoyed the view from a pathway away from the beach. The second stop was Ojukheon, where Shin Saimdang, the woman whose face appears on the W50,000 banknote, one of Korea's famous female artists, lived and gave birth to a prominent Confucian scholar.
