Mayweather-McGregor refunds will be provided by UFC after technical issues, says Dana White
UFC president Dana White has said the UFC will begin the process of giving out refunds to viewers who experienced technical problems trying to watch the Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor fight.
“We always try to put on the biggest and most exciting fights,” White said in a statement. “We want our fans to have the best experience when watching our events.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t deliver the way we wanted to on Saturday because of [digital video company] NeuLion’s technical issues on UFC.TV.
“As usual, we always take care of our fans and will fix this. We have started processing refunds immediately for anyone that could not access the fight after purchase.”
A legal expert told USA TODAY Sports that not refunding the cost of the fight would have led to lawsuits filed by those who bought the pay-per-view event and were unable to watch it.
The Mayweather-McGregor fight was delayed because of what Showtime called “scattered outages”, but the most of the problems appeared to be with UFC’s app that runs on several different platforms and not the outages referenced by Showtime.
